Egypt is an exotic adventure

It was a dream come true to be able to explore exotic Egypt. Many told me that they always wanted to go but it was too far and they would be too afraid. It’s always the place that gets the most gasps when I say I’ve been there.

Our trip was an incredible experience, with both bad and good parts. We talked with some very interesting people and learned about some incredible history, but we also felt the effects of tourism being down in the area. The locals were very friendly, but not always with the intention of being genuine and helping you out. We could hardly blame them for trying so hard to get us to give them money, but it made our experience exhausting and oftentimes frustrating.

We did some of the exploring on our own, but we also took a break and did a Nile cruise with Memphis Tours. It was nice to give over the reins and have someone guide us along for a few days. Plus, our tour guide was excellent!

I would recommend a minimum of a week in Egypt, but you really do need more. The highlights are Cairo, Giza, Aswan, Abu Simbel and Luxor. You could really spend a week in any of these places on their own, because there are so many ancient temples and artifacts to wonder at!

Don’t be afraid to visit Egypt! They depend on tourism dollars and it’s a relatively safe country to travel to, so you don’t have to worry. You won’t want to miss ancient and Modern Egypt. You’ll love the incredible blend of ancient history, modern Islamic culture, and exotic desert landscapes that await you there. I hope these photos of Egypt convince you to take the plunge and visit!
